Parents ask me this constantly. My kid is only seven — is that too young? She's never played on a team — is that okay? He's not very good yet — will that hold him back?
Here's the one question that tells you: when you take basketball away as a consequence, does losing it actually sting them? Not a little disappointed. Actually sting.
If yes, that's your answer. The love is real. And real love is the only thing I need to work with. Come in.
Fun is Always #1.
I don't sort players by skill level. There's no tryout, no minimum ability, no height requirement. What I look for is whether a player wants to get better. If that's there, we can build everything else. Skills, confidence, IQ — those are all teachable. Desire isn't.
Age doesn't matter as much as people think. We work with players of all levels at TDBA. A beginner who loves the game will outwork and outgrow a talented kid who doesn't care — every time.
So bring them in. Let them take a class. We'll figure out pretty quickly whether this is the right fit, and so will they.
We run individual classes for players who want to learn the game, summer camps for full-week development, and leagues for competitive play. Membership is the best option for families who want consistent, long-term development.
Come see TDBA. Let your player try it.
