Summer is moving fast, and I'll be straight with you: our spots are going. So if you've been thinking about getting your player into a TDBA camp this summer, now is the time to stop thinking and start doing.
Here's what actually happens at a TDBA summer camp, because it's worth saying plainly. Your player gets real skill. I was one of the best scorers this game has ever seen, and I can teach the science of scoring faster and cleaner than most kids have ever been taught. Your player will leave with something specific they can actually do — a move, a read, a habit — that they didn't walk in with. Confidence comes from competence. They get the competence, and the confidence shows up on its own.
They also get a ton of fun. FUN is rule number one at TDBA, and I mean that literally. A camp where kids are miserable is a camp that teaches them to dislike the game. We protect the love of basketball like it's the most valuable thing in the gym — because it is. Kids who leave a TDBA camp still loving the game are the ones who keep getting better in September, October, and beyond.
And they get something that outlasts the summer: the habits, the effort, the coachability, the "how do I respond when something goes wrong" muscle. Parents tell me every year that the thing they noticed most coming home wasn't the jump shot. It was the kid.
If that's the summer you want for your young player, I'd love to have them.
