You can use your Step Up scholarship at TDBA — and you don't pay first

Aug 2, 2026 · Coach Teddy Dupay

Here's the part most parents don't know, and it's the part that matters most:

You don't pay us and wait to get paid back. We invoice the state directly.

That's the whole difference. A lot of places will happily take your money and hand you a

receipt to upload, and then you're out a few hundred dollars for however long

reimbursement takes. We don't do that. TDBA is an approved provider, we bill Step Up

directly, and your scholarship money goes where it was meant to go without leaving your

bank account first.

The short version

short-list, not "some of them." All of it.

What you can spend it on

All of it. There isn't a special "scholarship menu" at TDBA that's different from what

everyone else gets:

How to actually do it

  1. Search the directory for Teddy Dupay Basketball Academy — spell it out. Searching “TDBA” will not find us, and there is no direct link we can give you; the directory only works by search.
  2. Pick the class, camp or league you want.
  3. We invoice the state. You don't pay up front.

If you get stuck on any of that — and the EMA side of things does get confusing — text

us at (813) 518-8739 and we'll walk you through it. We do this every week.

Come see it first

You don't have to commit to anything to find out whether your player likes it. Come to a

class. Come early and jump in, or stay late and play more. We'll have a lot of fun.

No volunteer coaches — TDBA pro staff coaches and refs every game. Fun is #1.

Text (813) 518-8739 or just come by: 302 W. Kennedy Blvd, Tampa (Carlton Building).
