Frequently asked questions
What age can my kid start?
Typically we say we start at four years old. If there's ever an age specification where the younger kids really shouldn't be there, we make that crystal clear. At the same time, not every three or five year old is the same — if your kid is three and you think they're ready to get going, you would know better than anybody. Come give it a try. If they're not ready now, they might be in a few weeks; things change fast. We've got a lot of low goals, we've got small basketballs, we've got cones, and all the kids are just great with everybody — it's really neat when a five or six year old gets to be the big kid and help a younger one. So come on by. Doesn't matter what age, especially to the trainings, all year long.
Does my kid need experience?
You need no experience at all. Everybody begins at the beginning — no experience necessary whatsoever. And for the good little player who's getting better all the time and really loves it, certainly we can help anybody go to the next level. You're gonna get better fast — but one day at a time. It really is the truth.
What do kids actually learn at TDBA?
Learning the fundamentals, learning terminology, learning teamwork, learning how to win, learning how to lose, overcoming adversity — these are all things that go along with it. It's bigger than basketball: we're gonna be good people. You're learning all the stuff that comes with sports without having to put yourself in a highly competitive environment that's just overwhelming for the kids or for the families.
How do memberships work?
Memberships are great — that's the best way to save money. We want people to be consistent, but we don't want it to be cost prohibitive. The way the memberships work, you get the amazing training other people pay forty bucks for, and you get a significantly discounted rate because you're a member. It's the best.
How do we get started?
Just gotta get started. Sign up, show up. Pick a training, pick a league, pick a camp — do it all. Become a member. Get started, get consistent. You're gonna love it.
